Here’s what’s happening - in 2021, two operators ( N5HA, Kenneth Bailey & W9AV, Clint Sprott ) managed to work at least 1 park every UTC day. My goal for 2022 is to do the same, and to try and write a short post about the day’s first contact. If you want to play along, feel free - I’ll be sharing updates about it during the monthly POTA updates that I prepare for the various ham radio media outlets.
now that you’re in the know about the Baily-Sprott Challenge, here’s the scoop for today:
Bailey-Sprott Challenge Update
Today was a busy day at my house. Yesterday I ended up tearing apart all the surround and closets that were beside our basement fireplace, so that we could redo that before repaiting the part of the basement that I jokingly call “The Fireside Lounge”. That meant that today I had more of that work, plus some clean-up to do. Luckily, that room is the room beside my shack, so I was able to pop in and out, and was able to snag Mike, K0FYR at K-0020 fairly early in the day.
Bailey-Sprott Challenge Status: 19 for 19.
In other news, the POTA Admin team was online together this evening, because there was some planned maintenace stuff related to swapping DB’s around, in order to help set the stage for some of the next batches of new features. Others on the team had heavier lifting to do in that process than I, but it still kept us busy for the evening. There will likely be more feature announcements etc. over the next several months, as we’re working on plowing through some stuff.
