Here’s what’s happening - in 2021, two operators ( N5HA, Kenneth Bailey & W9AV, Clint Sprott ) managed to work at least 1 park every UTC day. My goal for 2022 is to do the same, and to try and write a short post about the day’s first contact. If you want to play along, feel free - I’ll be sharing updates about it during the monthly POTA updates that I prepare for the various ham radio media outlets.
now that you’re in the know about the Baily-Sprott Challenge, here’s the scoop for today:
Bailey-Sprott Challenge Update
Seems hard to believe, but we’re slowly sneaking up on the end of month 1 of making a park contact every day! Today’s first QSO in my log was Kent, KQ4KK at K-9223. With the contact happening at ~16:18 UTC, it was also the latest into the day that it has gotten before I made my first QSO - I’ll have to be careful not to start cuttting it too close :-)
P.S. Did you know that the POTA maps show the location of waterfalls? Neither did I! I’m not sure if it’s useful info or not, but I happened to notice the little symbol when I zoomed in on the map for the park above, and I actaully had to go look up to see what it means :-)
