Here’s what’s happening - in 2021, two operators (N5HA, Kenneth Bailey & W9AV, Clint Sprott) managed to work at least 1 park every day. My goal for 2022 is to do the same by hunting at least 1 park every UTC day, and secondarily, to try and write a short post about the day’s first contact. If you want to play along, feel free - I’ll be sharing updates about it during the monthly POTA updates that I prepare for the various ham radio media outlets.
now that you’re in the know about the Baily-Sprott Challenge, here’s the scoop for today:
Bailey-Sprott Challenge Update
I was hoping to get my Day 12 contact in the bag early, last night, like I did yesterday, but it just wasn’t meant to be. The only stations on last night were FT8, and by the time I got WSJT fired up and connected (I rarely use it - my total FT8 QSO count is something like 3) I couldn’t hear the couple stations that were on anyway. Luckily, when I sat down in the chair this morning, there were a couple stations on that I was able to contact out of the gate. The first of those today was with Dave, KO4HMB who was squeezing in an activation at K-4004 before his workday started.
Bailey-Sprott Challenge Status: 12 for 12.
In side news - tonight was one of our POTA team calls - we’ve been working on the self uploading stuff for a while, mixed in with some other stuff, but we’re now on a concentrated effort to push through with that, so it shouldn’t be too terribly long until we start doing some beta testing with the self-uploader.
