Who I AmI am a thirty something husband and father, who happens to love ham radio! I've been exclusively mobile on HF, VHF, and UHF since getting my license. With some recent home renovations, I finally have some space for a proper shack, so I'll be sharing information about that project as I go. I get to drive around quite a bit for my work, so for me, my mobile shack is (at the moment) more important than my home shack so when I have time for projects, that is usually what I'll work on first.
I'm comfortable with, but no expert on, DC electronics. I am however, lucky enough to be able to absorb information quickly, so when I need to know how to do something more advanced I can ask an Elmer, check with Google, and usually figure it out and dive right in. That's part of the reason I started this blog - to share what I am doing so that I can help others, and so that others can help me. After all, that's what ham radio is all about! |
My History I became aware of ham radio as a teenager, when I stumbled on some of my dads old radio books, but I didn't become a ham until April of 2014. I'm a self proclaimed geek, so ham radio and all the electronic fun it implies is right up my alley!
In February of 2015, I then passed the Extra Exam, so my next mission is continuing my CW journey. I've gotten to the point where I can make basic contacts, at about 7 wpm. My next goal is to get to the 10 wpm level, and get enough contacts in the log so that I start to feel comfortable having some CW "rag-chews" instead of the generic "..... _. _." contacts that I've been doing! |
