if it was the 12th day of Christmas I guess I'd be watching for some drummers, but it's not! It's the 12th day of the minimalist game, which means I'm getting rid of 12 more things!

Another day, more stuff to get rid of! It'd amazing how much junk we can accumulate, and not even realize it.... It's time to say adios to these 11 things!
10 things are on their way out! This was stuff in the garage/workshop that I was saving "just in case" but in reality was only contributing to the clutter...
I've cleared everything out of my desk that was low hanging fruit, so on day 9 (where I need to get rid of 9 things) I've started to venture to other nooks, crannies, and drawers where I had stuff that needs to go!
Day 8 means it's time to get rid of 8 things. I "think" I may only be able to dip into the well of my messy desk for a couple more days before I run out of things there, but for today, I was able to keep rooting things out of the drawers!
It's the 7th day of this month-long adventure, so that means it's time to get rid of 7 more things! So far this game has been easy, because I've been able to find everything so far in my desk! If nothing else, at the end of this I should finally have clean desk drawers...
If you're not sure what the minimalist game is, join the club! I didn't know until a couple weeks ago when my YL suggested we play. Basically, in the interest of simplifying, it's a way to ease yourself into getting rid of stuff (junk) you don't need! You start on the 1st of the month by getting rid of 1 thing, 2 on the second, 3 on the third, and so forth. Since we're up to the 6th, here's whats getting booted for my contribution! 1 scribble filled notebook from the bank, another copy of mapping software for a handheld device (I'm starting to wonder why I'm finding so many copies of map software...) 1 pack of binder reinforcements, a pack of spare palm pilot stylus (styluses? stylie? whats the plural of that?!) an old ear piece that everyone said sounded like junk, and a pedometer. Getting rid of things can be hard, so just like Marry Poppins says "You find the fun and snap! The Jobs a Game!" The game in this case, is the minimalist game - get rid of 1 thing on the first, 2 on the second, and so forth. Since today is the fifth, I just happened to have a group of 5 fellows that no longer need to live in the bottom drawer of my desk....
The exercise of getting rid of as many things each day as there is in the date continues. It's called the minimalist game! Since today is the 4th it was time to find 4 things to get rid of.
I imagine it will get harder throughout the month, but so far I've been able to find things to get rid of without going any further than my desk! Here's today's selection that is getting added to the pile of things making their exodus: We're up to day 3 of the minimalist game at my house. That means it's time to get rid of three more things. Today's items that will be departing are:

This space is dedicated to things that aren't the norm for my blog - it is a space for random thoughts and opinions about things that are important to me, but have nothing to do with ham radio. If you don't dig it, feel free to click away, but if you do enjoy it, you might get some insight into what makes this ham tick. Archives
